So...Invision Power Board 3.x has come out, with some nifty functions and integrations with facebook and networking communities. It also looks much better than before.

This is what we could get here: http://forums.invisionpower.com/

It is just a bit more up to date. Problem is, if I install it, we loose some functionality, which is:

we loose the Arcade
we loose the links system (most likely)
we loose the Live Chat (maybe)
we loose the shoutbox (maybe)
we loose the Contact form

but we get to keep blogs, gallery and downloads, and most likely the shoutbox.

Personally I don't mind loosing the arcade, but the links system is unique....it is also terribly out of date, and has many broken links.

We keep all the forum posts and everything else that is relevant though, like photos in the gallery and blogs etc. we also get to keep the downloads section.

I am kind of willing to sacrifice the links system, although I spend hours collecting all the links and getting the them up there. It is a shame if we loose it, although we should be thinking about moving on . Google finds nearly anything now anyway.

I am ready for an update, but I need to know where we all stand on this. Furthermore, the whole appearance of the forums will change again. Most likely to something more modern and up to date though, and I will have to remove the old skins.

Whaddasay? Do I get a GO on this?

That looks pretty sexy.

I'm generally fearful of change, especially around here, but the cleaning up of the forums looks MUCH better, and I think this looks like a good direction for the site to be going.

I'm down!

I actually preempted the loss of the arcade and all, and so we lost the Arcade, the live chat, the "apply for staff" form, the contact form, and we left with what we are going to basically have....the new ipboard is pretty cool, and has some good features - since this is a major version change from 2.x.x. to 3.x - we could expect a pretty large change.
